After reading many forums about lowering my DeLorean I have finally decided to go with the Eibach performance spring set purchased from DHCH (https://store.delorean.com/p-10278-eibach-performance-springs-set.aspx). The springs are manufactured by Eibach in USA and are only sold in a set of four. I decided to only purchase the springs and keep the fitted shock absorbers. The set of four are not light in weight, so postage to New Zealand isn’t cheap, also customs will charge addition tax due to the price tag of these.
Installation is a specialist job that most suspension shops should be able to undertake, the work involved as per usual with a DeLorean took longer than expected. The removal of the original front springs was very difficult and required extra labor. After installation an additional wheel alignment was also needed.
The first thing you notice is the look, most people will agree the DeLorean has always looked very high especially in front, the lowering of the car really gives a more slick and faster looking car that looks fantastic.
I was dubious about the feedback I’ve heard about the effect Eibach spring set has on the car handling and performance. In saying that I can noticed the difference the springs have on the suspension system and handling, the car appears to cling to the road better around corners by reducing body roll. Eliminating the high front end gives the driver only a slightly better view; overall I’m very happing with the result.
